A Year Making It, A Year Yelling About It

July 12, 2011 James Riley

Yesterday (and this morning) have been sort of hopping on the distribution front.

  • We have a European network interested.  (They all speak English over there, unlike here in the states)
  • Ben Shapiro, the guy who was the youngest syndicated columnist in America at age 16 and who graduated from Harvard Law at 23 years old, has agreed to take a look.  (Yes!)
  • The producers of Glen Beck’s new web show sent us a list of questions about the show, including price.
  • Christiancinema.com asked for a review copy and about selling the DVD
  • We sent Ree Drummond of thepioneerwoman.com a copy and we’re trying to get her to REE-view it.   One word from Mrs. Drummond would sell 10,000 DVDs
  • Drew Ganyer and I did a podcast interview yesterday with lensflare35.com about the DSLR cameras we used for the project.   It was fun to talk about the technology of the show, and when we were finished Dave Warner, the host told us that after editing our interview and a boudoir photography show, he would post them on the site.   (I’m guessing the boudoir show goes first;  just a hunch.)
  • Michael Medved is a FB friend of mine and he agreed to take a look, but I think he only does the really big blockbusters.
  • Over the weekend, the Daily Beast (Newsweek) talked about the production.  Marlowe Stern actually watched it, and it was reasonable coverage from a source I thought for sure would savage it.
  • The Gideon Film Festival has asked to screen the show near the front of their August lineup.  Normally, you have to submit a film for consideration.  It was a real honor to be asked.
  • The best news though is that my friend “Donna from Colorado” volunteered that she enjoyed it immensely — and even better — her 12 year old daughter was hooked on it and wants to see the next episode.  Donna isn’t alone either.   We’ve had calls and emails from people saying they want more Courage!

As near as I can tell, you spend a year making a show like this, and then you have to spend a year yelling about it.   “Watch my show!  Watch my show!   Watch my show!”

I know it’s a tad undignified, but someone has to do it.   Anyone up for the job?  We’ll pay a tidy commission.
